E85 in a 94 Caravan?
As you can see from the statements below that most 98 and newer models are E85 Ethanol ready vehicles. I was wondering what all would be necessary to convert a 94 Caravan SE with the 3.3L engine to ethanol.
Chrysler-Dodge designates flexible fuel vehicles with the last letter of the 12 character Test Group Name posted on the Vehicle Emissions Control Information label, found under the hood. The Test Group Name is located on the right of the label, just below the engine size. Look for “Group: XXXXXXX.XXXX” then check to see if the last letter falls within the letter groups listed under the vehicle model below.
Caravan 3.3L, model years 1998 - 2003, 2006 - 2007, 2010
Model year 2009 A through F, model years 1998-2008 P through V

Just wondering why you would want to, the mileage will be worse, the oil will be contaminated sooner, and it is harder on the fuel system, because of the corrosive properties of the ethanol. the shorter life of the engine is not worth the minimal savings, if any, that you may see. That said, a 1/2 tank once in a while really won't hurt much if you put on a lot of miles for your daily commute. just don't tank up with it and let it sit in there for more than a day or two. Most of the conversion has to do with the engine computer, select sensors, and stainless fuel lines that won't corrode

I'm just looking at the price factor mainly. If I could use E85 for $3.25 instead of $4.00 for gas it would be great. So you're saying I could put 1/2 a tank of it in there if I will be driving straight for 8 hours? My band had to rent a van for a week to get TX to play the SXSW music festival and the one that they gave us was flex fuel so we ended up using E85 almost the whole way there and back. Really what I need is a 4 cylinder Chrysler Dodge because my girlfriend and I have to do a 1000 mile round trip every month so her son can stay all night with his dad. Unfortunately I'm so far in debt that won't be happening soon so I was just looking at any options to save with our current vehicles which is a 94 Caravan & 94 Grand Voyager.
