Default 2006 Grand Caravan PROBLEMS

Well just some background we have a 2006 Grand Caravan that my wife drives. Well she ran the oil to less than a qt left why no oil light I dont know. Severe knocking in the lower end and of course metal in the filter. I purchased an engine from a 2005 GC. Installed everything and when I start it it wont even idle. Got the scanner out and it had codes P0113, P073, P0129.P0508,P0335 & P0841. HOLY SMOKES. The only sensor I didnt use from my old engine was a oxy sensor and the MAP sensor. The other engine was having no problems. So I bought a NEW MAP sensor and almost all the codes have gone away except the P0113 and P073. It will not idle and it surges at 2800 RPM and above. I am pulling my hair out. (not really) I dont have any to pull out. Any direction I should take from here. I appreciate any help.

Ron

Well, they're both NGC so I wouldn't know why you would have any issues at all. The parts are interchangeable. You REALLY need to be looking your wiring over very carefully. Those 2 you have left are only intake and ambient air temperature codes. Unless your intake temp sensor is shorted internally you should have no idle issues. By reading your first group of codes, I would be hunting for a 5V circuit issue. Which engine did you use the t-body from? Get your DTC tests out and start tracking them one by one and you'll find the culprit.

"NGC"?
"DTC tests"?

Maybe I'm just a rookie, even though I have been doing mechanical work on vehicles for 30+ years, but what are those acronyms?

NGC is Next Generation Controller (or Computer). Previous to 04 Chrysler Corp minivans used seperate engine computers and transmission computers. They combined both in the same box calling the concept the Next Generation Computer. It is still called the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) just as before 04. As I understand it this can apply to some late build 03s too.

DTC is Diagnostic Test (or trouble) Code. It's the fault code displayed on the odometer when you cycle the key or displayed on a scanner. They are a 4 digit numerical code prefixed by a P, U, B, or N.

I used the throttle body from my old engine. Made sure I replaced the gasket. I measured the voltage at the ambient temp sensor it was 4.95 The sensor itself has a 10.8 ohm which I believe should be “0” ohms, is this correct?

Any chance of a vacuum leak? I helped a friend replace the heads on his 3.0L Montero and we got an extra washer under an intake manifold bolt. The engine would only idle at 2,000 rpm until we figured it out.
