1993 Caravan Head Gasket replace
Hi guys,
I have a '93 Dodge Caravan 2.5l, 4cyl Base and I decided to change the head gasket on it. Have a few questions, i hope you can help:
1. what parts do I need?
i am thinking to order a head gasket set - HSB9296PT-2 , washers,
oil filter, thermostat and gasket sealant
IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE I NEED TO BUY?
2. where can i find the steps to change the gasket and necessary parts
http://www.partsource.ca/doityoursel...d-Windstar.asp does this look ok to you?
3. what is the bolts tighten order
this is what i got so far:
10----4----2----6----8
7-----5----1----3----9
4. is it mandatory to use a torque ranch?
thank you!

Try registering at Autozone's website for repair info or go to your local library as they often have either Chilton's or Mitchell's manuals.
As far as a torque wrench being necessary, absolutely particularly on the head bolts.
The exhaust manifold bolts can be a bear to remove so soak them with PBBlaster or something similar for as long as you can before starting disassembly.

I think Felpro makes a Head Gasket package that comes with whole bunch of other stuff, check ur local part store.
Chilton manual are widely avalible as stated, for like $17. Or you can go online and Buy a digital verson from ALLDATA.com. I think it is $25 per vehicle.
Yes, Torque sequence and Spec is mandatory on head Bolt. I've seen people overtighten and strip thread on the block, or headbolt loosening up and he has to do the job all over again.
Also, Make sure you Blow out ALL water/liquid from the Bolt hole, or else you can Crack the block.

You know, I debated whether or not to say anything more because we all had to start from a zero base at some point but if you're asking this question, you need to accept the fact that there is the possibility that you will have to redo the job due to inexperience.
Absolutely, don't start this without a good source of information and don't take shortcuts. Engines tend not to be very forgiving if certain things aren't done correctly.
