where is the expansion valve on a 2001 grand caravan and can it stop the ac from working

 

The expansion valve is on the passenger side of the engine compartment by the strut tower, it is 3 in the picture. It is responsible for metering the freon into the evaperator. If it doesn't work right, the a/c won't cool.
