Default Serpentine Belt and Tensioner Question

I have a 2003 Dodge Grand Caravan. It has been making this sound that sounds like a rattling chain - something loose. I finally got someone to hear it and they said it sounds like the pully or tensioner for the serpentine belt.

I have been reading - how many pullys are there. I looked under the hood and could only see 1 from the top.

I have priced out the belt, tensioner but not sure about the pullys. Are there more then 1, and are they a pain to fix.

Oh by the way, it started making this noise intermittently last Thursday, will I make it to Saturday which is the first day the guy can fix it. What if the pully stops. What happens then.

Thanks

Kris

Which engine are we talking about? My local dealer calls it "the crickets". Years ago I changed the tensioner pulley. A bit of a pain. Fixed it for six months. Been living with it ever since - about 12 years. You have all the time in the world.

Its the 3.3 L engine. Funny thing is sometimes it sounds like crickets other times its almost quiet and sometimes downright noisey.

Can anyone advise if they think this will hold up until Sunday?

Hi. I don't know even you and I have the same cricket under the hood (sound similarity) but I have had it for 5 mths. Mine goes away after 2 minutes though. So I believe you won't have any problem driving it more on the road.
