my ac is not working...everything just quit..blower fan everything. i saw in the manual that there are 4 20amp fuses under the hood in the big black box. could this be the problem and do these fuses apply to the ac unit? also i see no instruction to replace these fuses if it is the case. can anyone help me??

 

Yes and yes. These fuses are in what is called the Integrated Power Module better known as the IPM. That's the fancy term Chrysler uses for the fuse box. It's on the drivers side in the engine compartment. The A/C compressor and front blower motor use separate fuses.

To remove the fuses use the removal tool (if supplied) clipped to the fuse panel or lid. No tool? Apply a rocking force with your four finger and thumb at both ends of the fuse and rock the fuse out. If all else fails grab the fuse with a pair of needle nose pliers and pull.

Chances are the fuses and your A/C are fine. You are describing a problem with the front blower motor not turning on. You likely have either a fried blower motor controller or resistor block. Both serve the same function. If you have auto temp control you have the solid state controller - around $60. If it's the manual system you'll have the resistor block - $20. Either would be located on the front of the HVAC unit behind the glove box and are fairly easy to change.

is there a diagram for the resistor block installation?? i do not know what it looks like to check it. manual gives nothing on repairs. i know it is behind glove box but that is all...i saw a few things under there. i appreciate any help. thanks bren

I have not removed mine, but I am pretty sure it is this, others will chime in

should just unbolt, remove connector and pull out(at least that is what my jeep did, just harder to see

 

Here's something better than a diagram. The first video is more in depth. It shows you how to troubleshoot the system and change the resistor. The second video is simplified to just changing the resistor. I'd recommend the first video to verify the problem before throwing some bucks at it. They both deal with a 2002 van but your van is in the same genaration so should at least be similar. Again, if you have the automatic temp control system, you won't see this part. You will see a blower motor controller.

As I said the odds dictate the likely problem is the controller/resistor. Odds can bite you sometimes. Another possible culprit is the front blower motor relay. It's in the IPM. Should be able to just swap it with an identicle relay on the same panel to verify if it's good or bad. The switch on the panel is another. Another would be the blower motor itself.

Well you were right it was the resistor...popped it in literally in 5 min and had ac immediately and omg it is cold!!!!
