Default About a trailer hitch and tranny cooler

Hi, all.
I have a 2003 Grand Caravan Sport 3.8L FWD, I want to install a trailer hitch, and some guy suggests me to install a Class-2 hitch with GTW of 3500lbs without a tranny cooler. I wonder if I can tow a trailer under 3500lbs without a tranny cooler?

Thanks!

Until someone pipes in - The purpose of a transmission cooler is to help the transmission run cooler and last longer while towing a trailer. They are recommended if you are driving in an area with a lot of hills and heavy traffic. IMHO - If you are talking about towing a small trailer for hauling stuff to the dump - it shouldn't be a problem. Now, if you are talking about hauling a boat (2,500 to 5,000 lbs) or a trailer (over 5,000 lbs) - yes, get a cooler. The bottom line is - if you have any doubt of the actual loads, etc. - put in a Transmission Cooler - you can get a kit for under $50 (Transmission Coolers > 2003 > Dodge > Grand Caravan ) or have it installed for about $150 or so. You should also refer to your Owner's Manual for specifications.

Stay tuned - a Technician will jump in shortly with a recommendation.
