2005 dodge caravan

water pump needing replacing for the very first time.

Blots at
2 o'clock
4 o'clock
7 o'clock

are snapped off





The other two I haven't even bothered....
I soaked the remaining two in wd 40.


In the mean time, for the ones broke off, the one at 2 o'clock isn't sticking out like the other two..


So I am guessing I have to drill it out?


Also, the engine, how far can it be lowered? if I can get it lowered enough I can get at it?

If not, I am guessing this means I have to pull the engine to get at the blots?

The engine can be lowered some by loosening the 2 bolts in the motor mount at the top left of the engine as your are facing it. Just do not remove the bolts unless you have a jack under the engine. After you get the water pump off you may be able to get the broken bolts out.

You need to soak the bolts with penatrating oil.

 

I've seen the one at 7 break but not the other 2. If you can't get to them, you could remove the timing cover, you wouldn't have to pull the engine.
