creaking noise from cv's?

Default creaking noise from cv's?

hi guys. ive got an 02 dodge caravan and on hard lock i can hear a creaking noise coming from the front wheels. is this the cv's and is it something i should worry about? any help greatly appreciated. thank you!

Depending upon your mileage, I'd just replace them if they are OEM.

The creaking noise can also be coming from the wheel bearings or brakes.

i just listened to it again. it actually happens all the time not only on hard lock. any chnace it could be the tyres??

Unlikely. Tires shouldn't "squeak" on all types of surfaces. Maybe on some.

It could be that your brake pads are getting skinny.
Brakes will squeak just before they wear out.
One rivet on the pad is taller than the other so it makes that squeak so you don't kill the rotor.
It could also be a stuck brake caliper.
The caliper should "float" over the brake rotor.
If it sticks, one brake pad will "hang up" and eat the pad prematurely overheating the rotor, and eventually warping it.

It's worth pulling the front tires (secure the van on jack stands!) and inspecting the brake pads, CV joint backlash and boots, and wheel bearing slop.
Post some pics of what you find.
