I Have a 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan that I needed a new key fob for. I ordered one off of e-bay that said it was compatible with this vehicle. Received it and had it cut. Had it towed to the dealer to have it programmed. They are saying that it is a Chrysler key and not a Dodge key and will not work. Are they telling me the truth or do they just want me to buy one from them? I contacted another dealer and they said there shouldn't be any difference.

 

alot of keys bought off of ebay are junk. There is no difference between the Chrysler and Dodge key besides for the emblem on the back. But the key probably wouldn't program and that is the story you got. Once a key is programmed to a vehicle it is paired with the controller it was programmed to and cannot be used with another module. It is very possible the key you purchased was already programmed to another vehicle.

 

they can always try it. Dodge Jeep and Chrysler shares the same key except the logo, as mentioned. The dodge parts catalog have cross reference on keys with different logo.
HOWEVER, even if the key looks the same, they are NOT all the same. Let say a key for a 05 minivan will not work for a 07 minivan, even tho they look exactly the same.
Do you have the Part number off the key you bought from ebay? maybe some of us can look it up for you and see if it works for ur vehicle.

Thats not even a chrysler part number. I doubt that key will work. Only aftermarket key i've seen working is made by Ilco.

 

Contact this site--I've gotten several keys for 2002 Dodge 1500, 2005 Durango and 2000 MB SL600. They all worked and customer service was great--price was VERY competitive.
