I have a 95 caravan 3.0L . I was driving the other day and after turning a corner and accelerating normal I heard / felt a light thump. The car went into neutral. No gears at all. I believe its a 31TH / A670 tranny.

There have been no transaxle problem indicators. Any ideas?

The pan has a few brass flakes in it, fluid still fair color but has a light off odor.

check for broken axle shaft (driver side very common inside rubber sleeve mid axle). or maybe differential pin broke.

 

Re you referring to the pinion shaft roll pin?

I have no clue what you are talking about. I'm talking about the differential pin. it is a large solid hardened steel pin that goes thru the differential carrier and holds the differential gears in place.

 

here's what you can do, put in park, jack up front end so both wheels are off the ground, turn one wheel and the other will turn the opposite direction. that's a great way to see if there mechanical connection of the axle shafts and differential. then you'll be able to total disregard my stupid advice.
