just got van to my place,, charged battery,,door was left open,,it started right up,,,after i put in a couple of gallons of gas,,ran for about 20 minutes,,,went to drive it, put in geare and pushed down gas and it quit,,started bacdk up but when i put it in gear it quits,,,,check engine light is on,,,,any reply appreciated
Disconnecting the battery clears the codes. Have the codes read before you disconnect it again. Autozone or the like will read your codes for free. Can't get there? Cycle the key 3 times from off to on/run (not start). Leave it at on/run and read the codes off the odometer display. No display? Count the flashes of the service engine soon light. A code 21 would look like flash, flash, pause, flash. Should end with a code 55 (end of codes).
tried the three times and leave it on and and it does nothing. Cant really run it to autozone because i am bout thirty miles fromn town, would have to tow it. ????

No... dont tow it to Autozone. that's a waste of money. They dont fix cars there.
just buy a cheapo pocket code reader. Makes life a lot easier, and it will work on All make and model for the future too.
