Bolt size or part number on Caravan power Steering pump
Hey guys, I need some quick asisstance. My friend has a 97 3.3 Caravan. Her power steering pump was recently replaced when out of town but now is at a garage in her hometown with a huge p/s fluis leak. The local garage says there are a couple of plastic plugs on the back which should actually have plugs or bolts in thier place.
The shop isnt sure what size plug/bolt is needed. Does anyone know offhand? I'm guessing its just a bolt, and am a little suprised the garage cant figure it out on thier own.

Well, what the heck - I will give it a shot!
I found a picture (below) of a 1997 Dodge Caravan Power Steering Pump and their is only one plug (that I can see).

Now, How to Install a Power-steering Pump on a 1997 Dodge Caravan mentions the removal of a rear support bracket, which is mounted behind the power-steering pump, with the appropriate socket - so, it would appear that your friend is missing the rear mounting bracket? If that is the case - other then the PSP falling off - I wouldn't imagine it leaking through those holes? Wow - come to think about it - what is holding the PSP in place? Seeing that something is holding the PSP in place - maybe the technician can remove the bolt holding it in place and that is probably the size you are looking for?
Anyway, the instructions said to Install a new O-ring on the high-pressure line - wonder if that is the leak?
So, there you have it - a suggestion from someone that has trouble playing with the radio in my ride!

lol...thanks for the feedback.
I went to the local parts store and checked out one of the rebuilt units they had in stock. There are a couple of threaded inserts in the pump housing itself...I suspect for other mounting applications. Im suprised they are not sealed internally in the tank, but I believe a couple of 8.8 metric bolts with thread sealer tape will do the trick.

That was my thought also, but it doesnt seem to know that.
