Default 03 grand caravan bypass the AC

just did this, so thought i'd lay out the specifics for anyone looking to do it in the future. 03 grand caravan sport, with 3.3.
you cant just buy a smaller belt because the ac pulley will hit. So unless you want to replace your ac compressor. here are your other choices;

1: remove compressor and replace with a bypass pulley. they are 37.00 plus tax at napa. They had one in stock at my local store. I had a pretty worn belt, so i didnt choose this method. Belt was 33 plus the pulley =70 bucks.

2: what I did was remove the compressor and bought a shorter belt. the oem belt is 83.5 ".
I measured with a piece of string and bought a belt 80". worked perfectly. it was 27 dollars.

so if you decide to do it, theres your measurement. Its a real pain in the butt to try and measure that pattern. oh, and that belt is a whole lot easier to install if you remove the air cleaner assembly above. (1 bolt)

no more compressor noise, no more vibration..oh...and no more cold air though

thanks for your information---who did you get the belt from?
who was the manufacturer?
That was neat that you could find a belt for the same size you measured for.

so you had noise coming from a/c. i hope that your a/c was not running before going for its removal.

thanks again
