Have entire dash removed, ready to disassemble and replace evaporator and heater core.

I don't pinch off any hoses. Take the hoses off the front heater core and cap the heater core itself to keep coolant from spilling into the vehicle's interior. You'll have to add alittle to the system when you are done but no biggie

Please teach me something. If you block off the front heater core won't you remove the use of heat from the front as well as the rear section?

Is the heater core in the front scaled enough to generate enough heat to the rear side.

 

Need input, please. If the heater hoses going into the core under the hood were re looped to just return to their source wouldn't that prevent heat to the rear side as well as the front?

Would there still be a need to plug the heater core for leaks, since the hoses are now removed?

 

If you looped it at the front heater core I would suspect you could still get quite a lot from the back..

..defrost would be your problem, I would think.

 

I think he's replacing the front evaperator Scott. The link said he should pinch off the rear heat lines. That is unneccessary, I don't even pinch off the front heater hoses. I just disconnect them and let them hang. But I let him know to plug the heater core tubes or when you remove the housing coolant will spill all over the floor.
