DRB III Scan Tool Useful??
I own a 2000 and 2002 Dodge Caravan. The service manuals make mention of a DRB III Scan Tool to read problems with the vehicles. At least for the 2002 model i am able to do a On-OFF-ON key procedure to display DTC error codes in the dashboard LCD display.
Does the DRB III scan tool give me more information which this ON-OFF key procedure does not provide? Is there any advantage to purchasing my own DRB III scan tool? If so where is a cheap place to find such a thing? I live in Ontario Canada.
Thanks

I have no current issue but am trying to make my life easier in diagnosing a problem when it does occur in the future. Wow i didnt realize the DRB tool was so expensive.
If the plain old diagnostic codes from my LCD are good enough then i will calm down. However if a better tool exists for < $100 I'm interested.

Even tho I never used it, But I think this one might be a good deal.
http://www.amazon.com/OTC-9450-Bilin...4087944&sr=8-1
It reads SOME domestic vehicle abs and airbag lights, and OTC is a very popular brand for Professional tools. it is only $120.
OTC is the tool manufacturer for the DRB III, I highly recommend you to do some research on this tool.
If you want More Advance Diagnostic tool that even test Body eletrical for Low price, Try Autoenginuity.com but you are looking to pay upward of $500 for advanced coverage.
Having a Simple $100 scanner will help out A LOT. it also helps out your friends and relative too if they have Check engine light.
