Default Summer Roadtrip

Which year and engine combo sub-$6K Dodge Caravan/ Chrysler Town and Country/ Plymouth Voyager would you recommend for 6 month Summer Roadtrip? Is there enough room without seats for 2 people to overnight in back? What maximum highway gas mileage is possible? Thanks.

This is a good and highly subjective question, there was a great link here about what work members have done to their vans, it's a good place to start your research.

i love my van but would never recommend someone buy one let alone for a cross country trip ONLY because of the insanely absurd problems these vans tend to have.

The 3.8 6 in my van is an awesome engine, gets about 22 mpg average highway, sometimes more sometimes less on average.
higher mg's without the rear seats in it so weight is an issue of course.

Wipers go ape sh** on you at the worst moment, trannies fail miserably due to neglect on maintenence a/c evaporators go bad all very expensive problems to fix, and of course the infamous body control module problems.

But read other forums, consumer reports, even local owners who own them and they'll tell you what to expect.

hope this helps
