IOD fuse keeps blowing... why?
Hey guys. I tried a quick search, but didn't turn anything up. Maybe I suck at searching.
I have a 2008 Grand Caravan SE, 55k miles. The IOD fuse keeps blowing. Any ideas why?
I only know the fuse is blown when the "no fuse" indicator pops up on the odometer. It doesn't really seem to affect anything, which I think is odd. I was under the impression that anything that is supposed to have power with the ignition off, wouldn't. But, all the locks, the accessory plug, etc... are still working fine. The radio doesn't lose memory, the trip odometer doesn't get reset, everything seems fine. Do I have the wrong idea of what the IOD fuse does?
I'd like to know what to look for, as to why it keeps blowing, without having to spend lots of money to a mechanic. I don't want to simply replace it with a higher amp fuse, as it blows for a reason. I don't want to ignore that reason and cause bigger problems later. Thanks for any help.

Until someone pipes in with a solution - I looked up IOD Fuse cause I hadn't a clue what it was used for!
Anyway, here is what I found...
...firstly IOD fuse stands for Igntion Off Draw and this basically means with the ignition off, so key out.......these are the sytems that still are on (draw current).....things like the ecu backup memory, radio (clock), interior lights, alarm etc...
This was put in due to manufacturers receiving complaints about batteries being flat when they were exported to other countries or if they had a longer than expected delivery times, and were stsnding for that time.......when the vehicle is in transit, this fuse is pulled out, but only enough to break contact, not enough to lose, and then just before handover to the customer, it is pushed in so that all sytems are working and operational...
After further searching - I found this thread talking about a similiar problem - 2004 Dodge Caravan - IOD fuse repeatly blowing?
At any rate - this will keep ya reading until someone jumps in.
Looks like the forum won't let that particular URL go through (maybe copyright related). I sent you a PM with the URL.
