2007 Grand Caravan - wobbly front wiper arm
Got a 2007 Grand Caravan with a wobbly front wiper arm on the passenger side. It causes the wipers to bang into each other. I removed the wiper arms and the cowl. There is a mount under the cowl that the rod at the end of the wiper arm goes into. The mount has two bushings in it, and the lower one seems to be damaged so that the rod will not go all the way down into it. Do I need to replace the bushing or the entire mount? What are these parts called and where can I get them? Your expertise and advice would be much appreciated! Thanks.
These things are pretty rugged; I'd suggest using WD40 on the plastic bushing and then pushing the rod down onto the bushing so its centered. When you install the wiper arms, start with the passenger side and put it about 2.5" above the plastic cowl, adjust the driver's side to about 5".
Tizzy1 - no, not really. But near position 1 is where the pivot mount assembly is located; the rod that the passenger side wiper arm is mounted on is shown, but it doesn't show how that rod goes down through the two bushings in the pivot mount.
The final outcome is that I got the replacement pivot mount assembly at the local dealership for about $93 and relaced it in about an hour (just in time for an extended period of rain!). But now the wiper blades aren't banging into each other and coming off the arms.
Thanks guys for your input!
