2011 Grand Caravan Transmission Problem
UPDATE: I picked up my Grand Caravan today and after 285km, it's working fine.... so far anyway. The dealer replaced the Powertrain Control Module after diagnostic tests indicated that it was not working properly. I hope this is the end of my saga.
I'll keep my fingers crossed for you. Sorry I didn't have anything to offer as far as mechanical advice, but I'm a lawyer, not a mechanic. I CAN tell you though that every once in a while EVERY manufacturer has a car that just doesn't work. Because of that most every state (maybe every state) has a "Lemon Law."
They differ from state to state, so you'd have to check your specific state's law, but generally they provide something like "if the car continues to have a problem or defect that either affects its safety or substantially impairs its value or usefulness and the vehicle has been out of service for repair for a cumulative total of 30 or more days in the 24 months or 24,000 miles following purchase, then the dealer/manufacturer has to replace the car with a new one or refund the money." In other words, if it's a new car, if it's been in the shop for more than 30 days combined, and if it's still broken, then you can take it back.
Again, the specifics vary from state to state, but you can do a quick internet search for "lemon law" and your state. They also often apply to used cars if they are still new enough as in still under the manufacturer's warranty. I hope is doesn't come to that for you, but if you continue to have problems you should probably look into getting a different car.
Good luck.

Thanks for the advice Jeremy, but it's not going to apply to me because I live in Canada and we don't have any Lemon Laws here. There is an advocate group that can help me, but as long as Chrysler is trying to fix the problem under warranty, I don't have any cause for complaint. If this continues for a long period of time I will, but it's only been a short period so far. I'm documenting everything just in case.
No known recall. If you own a 2011-2013 dodge caravan,
1) park on a hill,
2) put in reverse,
3) try to reverse slowly, then stop
4) repeat.
please reply if you have shutter.
Seems that almost all will do this. (just because they do doesn't mean they should!) I think it's time we do something more than waste our time at the dealer just to have them flash the ECU hoping to appease us.

I was teaching my wife uphill and downhill parking last week in preparation for her road test and my 2011 dodge caravan went AWOL. The car refused to enter the reverse gear. Took it to East side Dodge where they said the I had to overhaul the transmission. Like seriously, just like that! This is my first dodge and I don't think I'll go back to them again.
