Default heater/AC only works on High

on my 2000 grand caravan the heater/AC only works on high. when you move the fan switch on anything but high their is no heat/ cold air that comes out and the recirculation switch does not light up when you press it unless the fan is on high. could it be the fan switch that is bad?

It could but it was very common for the blower motor resistors to go bad on those vans. They are under the hood over by the right strut tower. The connector gets all corroded so they don't make contact. Most of the time you have to replace the resistor and the connector for it. Most of the time they are so bad you can't get them apart.

ok will have to look into that. for a while it was just position number 4 on the switch that quit working and then yesterday every thing but high quit. it seems like this week every thing started to fall apart.

ok just went out and found it. it was next to the strut tower and it looked like it was coming out of the firewall. now how hard is it to remove and replace?
