Well this evening my son and i were driving home , and when we went to stop and get gas, i lost all power steering! When i checked and sure enough there was a leak , what looks to be the high pressure hose, or cooler that's on the rack and pin. I had to drive it 7 miles to home , which i hated to do but where i live there was no choice . I wonder if this could have been the problem all a long. It went out with no noise or fan fare..just out!
Of course there's no telling if the pump or cooler is bad and im wondering what that's going to cost, but im going to do them both when i do it since the way it looks it could be a pain to get to.

Any how to's or manual's a person could use?

thanks

Well i figured i would update this thread.

It was the rack and pinion and fluid cooler . They both needed replaced and I had to go to the dealer to do it because it was a b@^#*H . Someone "previous owner or used dealer" tried to work on it and sheared off the bolt where the steering bolts into the rack!
Along with 2 others that where rusted and snapped. Well dodge charged me 379$ labor, i bought the rack for 179+100$ core at Napa , they used dodge fluid cooler.
It took 3 days and one really patient tech and honest repair dept . They even did the front end alignment for that price.

The mechanic lost is pocket knife...nice Sheffield , in my van and i took it back the next day...lol.

So all that for 558$.....sweet in my opinion and ill damn sure go back .

Had a slight coolant leak too...was hose clap they fixed it too.

damn good guys in my opinion and a rare find.

Its worth some things to just have a pro look at , especially when its a safety issue like steering , breaks etc.

PS: The dodge rack and pinion was 800$ oem.....wow!!

PS: PS: I just checked the receipt....outer tie rod too. .................see why im so happy now?

That is a really reasonable price for the repair. Changing the rack is a pretty big pain to DIY.

? It was the rack , and an added note i replaced the power steering lines a month later as they where starting to leak. Since then i have not had a problem.
