Default Oil Light

Question. I have a 2004 Dodge Grand Caravan. When i start my car in the mornings it is fine. After about 15 minutes of driving my oil light dings and then turns off. But it only does this if I stop. When I accelerate it goes off and doesnt come back on until I stop again. It doesnt do this everyday. Only every once in a while. Can someone please give me some guidence in this matter.

when you first start the vehicle, the oil is cool and therefore a little thicker. Once it warms up, it flows a little more freely. That said, when your engine is at idle, the pump is not pumping as quickly as when the engine is accelerating or under load. So not as much oil pressure is being generated. Most likely you have a problem with the pressure sensor which is a common problem. It's a cheap part to replace (i think about $15). It could also be a problem with oil pump which is unlikely. Are you sure you have the proper grade of oil in your engine (as in, did this start after you had the oil changed?). What's the mileage on your van? And this video will give you an idea of how easy it is to change the sender (it's for the previous generation van but very similar)...
