2008 caravan blower motor & other electrical problems
I have an intermittant but getting worse problem. My front blower motor sometimes will not work. Sometimes restarting the car will fix it sometimes not. Also various other seemingly unrelated symtoms:
1) front blower motor works, then doesent, or doesnt then does.
2) blower motor does not shut down when car turned off and key removed (sometimes)
3) tranny goes in to limp mode occasionally. Restarting car sometimes corrects
4) on very rare occasions 3-4 times wipers go mad and horn starts blowing even after keys removed. Opening hood and punching fusebox under hood stops it (!)
5) horn has tried to blow "eh-eh-eh," for no apparent reason.
Again stopping, opening door and restarting car sometimes resets it. Sometimes not. The front blower not working and the tranny problem becoming more frequent to the point of frustration.
6) once when i took car into dealer due to error code/ check engine warning they said it made no sense. A warning for a different model car entirely.
No check engine warnings lately at all. I guess could be bcm but i also suspect wiring into module. Really dont want to drop $800 on this prob if i dont have to.

The fuse box (TIPM) is becoming a more common topic on forums concerning all sorts of electrical problems. It is much more than a fuse box. It houses controlling circuits for many of the van's electrical systems. If it turns out to be the TIPM causing most or all of your problems you may not be able to get a new replacement right away. Many are going back order.
About all the average Joe can do if your warranty has expired concerning the TIPM is disconnect the connectors and verify the contacts are not corroded and undamaged. Disconnect the battery first. Power is always applied. The next step would be testing voltages from the TIPM. Tough to prove anything concrete on an intermittent problem though. If you are handy with a meter I can give you contact numbers to test.
One long shot. Either disconnect the negative battery cable or pull the IOD fuse for 2-3 minutes. This will reset the data bus and maybe correct one or two of your problems.

Thanks! I'll try the batt disconnect first. Where would I find/get to tipm connectors? I see several wiring harnesses under dash before firewall but i imagine if there is a problem it is more likely in engine compartment if there are harnesses in there as well as there is more environmental stuff going on there.
I am hoping it is a bad harness/ corroded connection, as it is a) possible for me to fix b) cheaper than the whole module.
I am no longer under warranty, but i have had intermittent problems reported to dealer back while i was under warranty. Would be really hard to make that stick of course, unless they release a service bulletin or recall. Sigh.
