Talking 96 GC Wiring problems.

Hi, I came looking for help.

I was putting in a stereo and I hooked the blue power antenna wire from the stereo to the ground wire in an attempt to make my stereo hook up to my infinity system. Anyway, when I did this the stereo would not turn on and the instrument cluster went dead. I unhooked the blue wire and disconnected the battery. I hooked the stereo ground back up to the ground wire and hooked the battery back and the instrument cluster came back on but the stereo showed no power. I disconnected the stereo ground and grounded the stereo to the nearest bare metal and the stereo works.

Now for some reason the van will shut off while driving. What could of happened, or what should I look for so I can repair? The van always starts right back and all the accessories (locks, cluster, light, ect.) work.

And to add I had a code for a bad cam sensor and I replaced it 2 times. Now I just get the P1391 code.

Thank You for the help.

What ground wire did you connect to? The large braided steel one? What were the wire colors.

Thanks again, I used the ground that came from the main harness. The single one that splits from the main harness that connects to everything else, it had a special slide in type connection just for the ground. It was black, with a green stripe, I think.

That should have been fine, it is the ground for the speaker amps.

Code P1391 is for intermittent loss of cam or crank. You could be losing the crank signal or have a wire rubbing through.
