Is it possible to bypass the front heater core? (1997 GCV, 3.3L)
Hi ya'll,
Simple question I guess, we have always had problems with the front AC side of the ole minivan. It's a 1997 GCV and has over 297K on it. And it has the 3.3L engine.
The front A/C discharge is about 10 degrees warmer than the rear A/C. I've done everything short of replacing the blend door(s) under the dash. Its outrageous what has to be done to get to these so while reading some lines on this forum today, I read where somebody else just bypassed the heater core. Now, I'm was thinking the same thing (just for the summer) may be just to bypass the lines. I don't want to screw something up so if someone could point me in the right direction, we would be eternally gratefull.
I'm thinking two valves (one in series w/core & one to bypass it) would suffice...
Thanks in advance for any helpful comments y'all!

Just disconnect the 2 heater hoses at the firewall and connect them. Get you one of those little Prestone flushing kits at the parts store. It should have a plactic fitting with a flare on each end that you can use with 2 clamps. A couple of zipties and hang it somewhere so it don't rub or drop on the exhaust.
