Default 2009 GC Transmission wacko! Please help

Today, 40Miles from home, My transmission whacked out.
After driving there as normal, Heading home the gear indicator showed "D",but the trans wouldn't up shift. Appeared to maybe be in second. I limped it home on the backstreets.
I then shut it off and restarted it. It then seemed normal and shifted OK but maybe a little harsh. I'm freaked out.

Anybody got a clue ?

Thanks

John

well... you have to scan the car and see if you find any codes.
do you still have powertrain waranty? if you do, just go to the dealer. there are over hundreds of problem that cause cause the car to LIMP in.

Ditto. No warranty? AutoZone will connect a scanner and read your codes for free. "Limp mode" is an actual term used to describe what you've experienced. The transmission control module in your engine computer detected a fault. It automatically shifted the transmission into second gear to keep you from further damaging the transmission. That left you with 1st, 2nd and reverse gears, just enough gear to get you to the nearest garage. The fact you were able to "reset" it points to an electrical failure of some sort.

Yeah, no warranty. 60K miles. I'll pull and clean the connector (s) There also appears to be some oil around the module. Valve cover isn't leaking so I'm not quite sure what to think about that. I've got a scanner so I'll hook that up and see if there's a code. The mil didn't come on however. More tomorrow.

Thanks
