Recently purchased '94 Grand Caravan, has a front end vibration issue that is in in a previous thread.

Transmission problem...?

Two times I've had this problem in the three weeks I've owned the vehicle.

When driving, I stop and when I put the van into reverse, nothing happens, it's like the van is in neutral. When I accelerate, and the rpm's are coming down, only then does the van kick into reverse.

Does this mean the need to replace the transmission is coming soon?

Hmmm.... is this wee van that I bought for a great deal now going to cost me a bunch?

consider the age of this Van, it is very possible the trans is on it's way out.
what engine? 3 spd or 4 spd trans? did you check trans fluid level?
honestly, it is a 94 caravan, I hope you didn't pay more than $500 for it.

 

I'll check the fluid level... it's a 3.3 liter V6, don't know if it's a 3 or 4 speed...greek to me.

Paid $200. Want to do a road trip or two to BC from Alberta this summer... but am having second thoughts of taking this vehicle.

 

yeah, it is such an old car, you better off paying little more for a rental vehicle on the road trip.
