OT Dodge...can anyone explain this?
I have a 2003 Dodge Grand Caravan. The door locks automatically lock when the spedo reaches 20 mph.
Here's what has me puzzled. I drive out over dirt roads approx a half mile to reach my mail box and the main paved road. On smooth stretches of the dirt I can get over 20 mph but the locks do not go on. As soon as I turn on to the paved road and reach 20 mph the locks activate.
Why would this be? Why doesn't it lock on the dirt road and only activate on the paved road? I've had this van a year and a half and it is always the same.
If it has anything to do with it, I'm in 3rd gear (auto) while driving on the dirt. When just going to the mail box I leave it in 3rd gear even on the paved road as I don't really get over 25 mph since the mail box is close to the dirt road.

Actually the manual say it's 18 mph. They function perfectly normal on any paved road. They just don't work on the dirt.
