Default Dodge Grand Caravan ABS to Junction block brake line replacement.

To the crowd.

Last weekend I had to tackle the projects that plagues all rust belt caravans. Replacing the brake lines from the ABS junction block all the way to above the rear axle. These are the funky ones with braided steel sections as they come out of the ABS Block.

The thing that caused me the most worry is that in this day and age, no where online could I find the part numbers or prices for the two long lines from the ABS junction Block that end up at the junction block in front of the drivers side rear wheel. And the pictures that I found were even worse.

THAT ENDS TODAY.

Just some information about the rig I own, its a 2000 Dodge Grand Caravan SE. Your rig may be different, but I would guess most of the third generation long wheelbase models use these part numbers.

Right is a: 04683696 TUBE. Right. Junction Block to Valve.
Left is a: 04683695 TUBE. Left, Left Side. Junction Block to Valve, Valve to Frame. .

One was like $40 at the local Dodge Dealer in Rayhnam MA, the other was $140. He could not tell me why the prices were so different. Looking online, they are the same way.

The other thing to realize before tackling brake work on these vans is that the fittings used for the left and right brake circuits are different, so the guys on the production line cannot get them crossed up. All the lines themselves are 3/16" but the fittings is where it gets weird. Some of them are standard 3/8"-24 Inverted Flare fittings, the other circuit is 7/16"-24 Inverted Flare. It took a little digging at Advance Auto, but they did have them instock. The Part number for the odd ball 7/16"-24 fittings (that still use 3/16" line is BLF-11C The ones they had were made by AGS

I looks like I am going to have to cut down the pictures before I can post them. So that might have to wait.

Cheers,
RIchard.
