Thanks for updating us on the fix. I'd guess that the regular mechanic didn't check the fluid level and just did a pressure test. The leak may have been on the upper tank of the radiator and if the level wasn't above the leak point then it wouldn't have shown. However the pressure should have bled off rather quickly.
