My FOB stopped working all of a sudden for my caravan. I can unlock the doors but get a bad key error when I try to start the van. Nothing has happened to the key or the van, so I am clueless on how this happened. Does anybody got any suggestions on what could cause a FOB to suddenly stop working and what I can do to fix it?
I have a 2008 Dodge Caravan minivan and had the same problem, the key fob case had been deteriorating and we kept taping the end of it to make it go , had to insert pause for a couple seconds then it would start when turning, but finally it just gave error of badkey, after reading this blog and in desperation I decided to pop open the case and pulled out the circuit board chip, one quick look at it, saw that the main chip that the car needs to read from was not attached on one side I heated up my soldering iron and just dabbed it and now Bingo it's working again I agree this thing is poorly designed and over priced junk but at least now it is working.
