Hello forum members,
Recently purchased from private party a 2006 DGC SE w/3.3L.
I also recently dropped the transmission oil pan and changed filter and put on new gasket. I did not do a flush, just drain and refill.
Used Fel-Pro rubber gasket. I know a lot of you say use RTV silicone. I'll let you know how the gasket holds up.
The oil pan must have been dropped before because it had silicone RTV on it and no gasket.
I pulled 3.5 qts so I put the same amount in. However, the ATF dipstick showed a little over the "hot" level.
So, I dropped the pan again and drained. This time I only put in 2 qts. Now the dipstick indicates in the "cold" range when cold.
Why the 3.5 to 2 qt discrepancy? I did not check the level before dropping the pan so perhaps it was overfilled before I dropped the pan.
Any of you all have had this situation?
