2001 Grand Caravan - stereo volume BLARES!

My 2001 Grand Caravan has the Infinity sound system. The volume BLARES. I turn on my radio or CD and the sound is off. If I turn the volume button, it BLARES loudly and then won't turn down or up.

Probably an internal radio issue. Do you have small children? They love to put change in the radio.
