2004 Caravan - Intermittent Electrical - Overloaded Relays
2004 Dodge Caravan 3.3
It is an intermittent problem - when driving or sitting idle the gauges will flicker and eventually cut out. Doesn’t happen every time, but more often now. If you turn the van off, it will not start. I read on several threads that it may be an issue with the connection to the instrument panel so I have taken that out and soldered the pins but didn’t seem to correct the problem. Occasionally now it will stall and not restart till I swap the starter relay.
It seems that when this occurs it overloads both the accessory and starter relay. If I change the relays it will start fine and work for some time without issue. If I change the accessory relay without turning off the van, the gauges will come back.
Any help would be appreciated.
