Default 92 grand caravan fuel gage problem????

hi
i have a 1992 grand caravan 3.3l
i had hard start problem and changed fuel pump.
after changing fuel pump .....fuel gage reads empty and little gas can light is also on. so sent it back and installed new fuel pump same problem.before installing any fuel pump the fuel gage worked fine.
theres a harness you get with fuel pump and where it connects to van i tested each pin for continueity and one pin make three other pins buzz.
i dont know if it should do that! anyhow any suggestions would help.
thanks!

the jumper harness goes to a 4 pin square connector on the drivers side frame rail. In pin 1 is a green wire, pin 2 is a violet / black wire, pin 3 is a black wire and pin 4 is a dark green / black wire. Those are the colors on the body side of the connector, the jumper wire side might be different. Pin 3 and 4 are the power and ground for the fuel pump. the dark green in pin 1 is the fuel sending unit wire. When that connector is unplugged, the gauge should read empty. If you jumper that wire to ground, the gauge should slowly go to full. If it does, trace the jumper back and jump it again to ground. It is possible the jumper is wired wrong.
