While driving my wonderful van home the check engine light made an appearance. So I whipped out my code scanner and found the oddest code I have ever seen... It simply said "Manufacturer control". Any ideas as to what it is? Thank you in advance!

 

There are generic codes that apply to every vehicle then there a smaller set of manufacturers codes set up in addition to generic codes manufacturers use at their own discretion. It could be referring to this because the scanner you're using can't read them though I've never heard of that happening. Just a guess. You could try having AutoZone or the like read your codes for you. It's free.

 

Im in SoCal and none of the parts stores in town will read codes anymore, they always refer you to the dealer or try to sell you a scanner.... I cleared it out as the van was not running any differently. hopefully it doesnt come back....
