08 Dodge Caravan rear door power window will not go up
I just bought a 2008 caravan and the rear sliding door window will not go up. What should I check first and what should be replaced?
I'll be. I don't think I've read about a power window problem in a sliding door on this or other forums in 8 years. Could be a first.
I'm looking at the wiring diagram for your 08 window system and just shaking my head. Chrysler has gone to the extent of integrating the power window system into the CAN data bus whose sole purpose is to save weight in an effort to meet EPA mpg requirements. The upside for us? We save a teaspoon of fuel every year. The upside for Chrysler? They get the EPA off their backs and can charge us big bucks to troubleshoot and change modules in stead of pocket change to change a PTC or relay. Chaching! Isn't progress grand!
Anyway, you likely have a bad window drive motor. Gain access to it's connector and see if you get 12vdc at the connector when the switch is thrown up. If it's there change the window regulator assembly. The motor is part of it. From here I'm only going by this diagram and others experiences on older vans. If the voltage is not there inspect the wire harness running in a track at the bottom of the door frame. It gets flexed everytime you open and close the door so it may have a broken wire. If that's good you may have a bad power window module - Chaching!
In the mean time, you can sometimes get them to move by holding the switch up as you slam the door shut. I've read of it being a permanent fix on rare occasions. The fuse could be bad if both left and right windows are stuck down.
