Radpidifre clicks, new starter 2 wks old. 01 caravan.
I have a 2001 caravan, 3.3 no flex. Replaced starter because I was getting single click when ignition turned.
Yesterday things got wierd, When I turned key on, wipers come on, fluid would shoot, both autonomously, rapidfire clicks from starter, but no turnover from engine. Also noticed a smell, almost like melting, but not quite that distinct.
The wierd electrical problem has stopped, now I only get the rapidfire clicking from starter.
Tried the key on,off,on,off,on,off for codes, got this:
5 chimes, pause, 1 chime. then:
10 blinks from engine light.
I've looked at the wire harness behind the steering reservoir that I've read about here, it looks fine.
I've disconnected the battery for several hours, and exact same when I reconnected.
I'm going to pull the starter to inspect, but I expect I won't be able to tell anything.

Have you checked battery voltage? Low voltage (less than 11v) can cause all of those problems. Starter solenoid gets power from starter relay in the Intelligent Power Module. Power comes into control side of relay from Ign switch. PCM is what provides ground for relay coil. So start with battery voltage. Then check starter relay in IPM.
Ditto to Rick plus:
If indeed you're getting a code 51 it means the fuel system is running lean. Well you can't get any leaner than it not starting. Suspect this is an older stored code or an erroneous code induced by your starting problems as often happens. Keep it in mind once you get it started. It's scanner code equivalent is P0171. http://www.obd-codes.com/p0171
The ten flashes could be a code 55 meaning end of codes. Did you miss the pause at the 5 flash mark? Any code check should end with 55.
