2012 Grand Caravan RT, any issues???
I am getting ready to buy a leftover 2012 RT. anyone think i shouldn't because of reliability issues or anything mechanical??
The reason i ask is i bought a POS Focus 6 months ago which was highly rated by consumers. I hate it. the DCT transmission is pure junk and FORD should be shot for putting something like it on the market. Let alone that Consumers magazine was not above board with the evaluation of the product. SO,,,, are you guys happy wth the 2012 RT? I know it has better brakes than the lower models...

I've had one for several months now and can offer the following observations.
On the plus side:
1. The oversize brakes are well suited to the vehicle's weight.
2. Straight line acceleration is good in instances where the throttle can be progressively and evenly increased.
The minuses:
1. My transmission exhibits a pronounced shuddering when backing up a hill. Almost like the sump is going dry somehow. Chysler insists this behaviour is "normal".
2. The programming for the transmission results in excessively "busy" and unnecessary gear changes. The transmission upshifts far too quickly and as a result the engine lugs along in 6th gear at speeds less than 80 kph. It hangs on to top gear when I climb a hill and won't down shift until my speed has fallen by 15-20 kph at which point it drops 2-3 gears causing the van to surge ahead, almost dangerously, only to upshift 2-3 gears in a few seconds.
3. Milage is so-so.
