Couple of days ago driving my 2002 Caravan Sport after accelerating at a stop light my engine reved up to 5,000 rpm when I got to 40 mph. Then it was running ok after that. I has been doing this constantly since.

 

Are you getting a check engine light and have you checked for codes? If it's an engine problem I would suspect the Throttle Position Sensor (TPS). It's mounted on the throttle body and can be tested with a multimeter. If it's transmission related it sounds like it's disengaging. Do you feel any jerking while this is going on? Fluid level ok?

 

No check engine light. Transmission fluid is at proper level. I dont feel any jerking.
