Since Friday my 1999 Grand Caravan has been cranking very slow, but firing up right away. In addition on one occassion the van started up, but the rpm gauge and speedometer were dead at zero for the entire drive. The battery has full charge.

Being Labor Day weekend nobody has been open for service. And the startup has gotten worse, taking more than a couple very slow cranks before it starts.

Sounds like the battery is going bad, and the alternator is working double time, that usually causes wierd problems with the instrument cluster.
