Popping noise at idle from front drivers wheel well?
It baffles the mind. I drive an '06 Dodge Grand Caravan SE with the 3.3 V6.
For a while now, there has been a low, constant popping noise. Almost sounds like popcorn popping.. coming from the drivers side front wheel well.
It's recently increased in noise level. Originally thought it was an exhaust leak but I smelled no exhaust and did the spray test (soapy water on manifold) got no bubbles.
History - the van was hit about 2 years ago on the driver's side, and the front fender is damaged to the point it makes a shrieking sound everytime the door is opened. But... I don't think the damage is related.
Can anyone clue me in on what might be going on here? It only happens at idle RPM's. When I put the vehicle in neutral and roll at idle RPM the noise recurs. I'm also losing coolant at a very slow pace.
Assistance would be greatly appreciated.
