Default 2001 Caravan Turn Signal Problem

My wife's 2001 Caravan (3.3 V6) has an intermittent problem with the turn signals. Some days they work, some they don't. Sometimes they start working when she restarts, but I can't find a pattern.

I've read some forum posts about solder joints in the flasher module, and I've read some that say this year doesn't have modules and everything is controlled by the BCM. Can you tell me which is true? Any suggestions for fixing this thing?

Thanks.

2001 was the first year of the 4th generation vans. Some changes were made to the electrical system. One was getting rid of the combination flasher module and incorporating it's function into the BCM. So now instead of changing a $50 relay you have to change a $300 box. Ain't progress grand!

Before you go for the BCM, even though the fact you restart and it works screams microprocessor problems, do yourself a favor and make sure the multifunction switch is good. You can either check it at the steering column connection or at the BCM. If you want to I'll get the pins to check.

Thanks for the info. I think I just dodged a major bullet here. I double checked her van and it's actually a 2000!

I found the module, found the cold solder joints, and re-soldered the connectors. It seems to work so far, and she doesn't have to feel like a target in traffic any more ;-)

One model year sure makes a difference. Good to hear you made a good mistake.

You may have read one of my posts somewhere. I did the same solder job a few weeks ago. Still working great.

My wife's 2000 is having the same problem! Could you share where this module is, or what other posts gave your the information?

Thanks!

Edit: Think I found the post: https://dodgeforum.com/forum/dodge-c...nal-issue.html

Cougar41, you seem to seem to be a very helpful kind of guy!
