Any Drilled and/or Slotted Rotor Successes?
I got mine from Amazon: R1 Concepts, I got all 4 since I have an AWD. The fronts were $75 each and the rears were $72, shipped free with Prime. Paired them with Wagner ThermoQuiet semi-metallic pads. The combo is wonderful!
Well I have put this combo through the paces and finally I have spent money well.
First - Rotors are rarely warped as mostly its Material transfer that gives us that impression. But it happens.
I have cooked every combo I tried until I went this route.
Second -How they are treated. I am a private investigator and already an aggressive driver sometimes I have to really push it as hard as possible to gain the advantage. These advantages are anything from getting there first, catching up, getting away from the scene and more. Yes its a mini van but has great surveillance applications so I use what I have to use.
I mostly cook them when I have to brake hard on downhill interstate exit ramps trying to jostle for position but have done it avoiding Radar and more......
At first I was afraid because of the $$ spent and I hear you don't get drilled rotors turned so I was careful and as time went on Ii would push them harder and harder. I have found myself as of late not even thinking of it and doing what I have to do with no handy caps of worrying about cooking my front brakes.
Yes they dust so just wash the car. I find a bristle glass washer on a stick at Walmart makes fast work of it.
I am very happy with my brakes. Most of you have no concerns because of you driving habits.
As for brake noise. I am saying this because someone told me "I tried those pads but they made noise".
I am telling all that if you use the Permatex Blue spray on the back of the pads and let it tack up a little before the install no brakes will make that noise. I have used it with every kind of application from cheap-o to hi-tech, cars, trucks, and motorcycles since the 1970's with 100% success.
Thanks

Good rotors and pads and hand torquing the wheels on @ 85 inch lbs.
the brakes (along with the headlights) are the weak points of the GC...well....ok the tranny too!
i solved all my braking issues with porterfield R4S pads. they are awesome. very little dust, and you can brake hard with them, no fade. just consistent brake modulation 100% of the time (once they warm up). i do alot of fully loaded road trips in the mountains and i have never ended up with soft pedal or over heating them. i used them on my racecars as well, mostly the hawk racepads for that application, but i would not recommend the hawk racepads for street use. porterfield does make a CD rotor, but not really necessary unless you are going for "that look"....more important than CD rotors are good pads, ss lines and good fluid (motul), which you can order from porterfield. porterfield also supplies good quality, cast rotors, i would just go with those....unless....you....want...."that look", i know because i had a race team and specialized in brakes and clutches. i know these things.

they dont have them listed, just call and ask. they have them, they are on my 96GC. they rock.

Thanks, Never heard of Porterfeild till now. I found out what you are saying about drill and or slotted rotors after I made the purchase. Should have known if NASCAR don't use them, heh, but like mine all the same. Some folks get a kick out of them when thay notice em on a mini van.

look to road racing/club racing for info on that. they use brakes.....going round n round at 200mph you dont use the brakes.
Heh, you never seen short track NASCAR?
Anyways, had I read more sooner I would have opted out of the drilled but have no regrets. The metal is of quality and are doing fantastic.
got a new set of shoes today....yokohama AVIDs. tech said the brakes are down to 12% not good when you are going on a 2000mile skiKation.....order some porterfield R4S high performance pads for the front....will take on the road and swap out if necessary.
the magikal R4S!

the magikal R4S!
