Unhappy new blower motor resistor smells!

I replaced our failed OEM blower motor resistor, and the new resistor works fine. However, it creates a very unpleasant smell in the van. Will this go away, or is this an issue that we just have to live with? I have already tried a second resistor, same issue.

That smell is your blower motor pulling too much power through the resistor. The new resistor will not last long, maybe a month or 2. You really need to change the blower motor as well. They should only be sold in pairs on these things.
