Satellite Radio via OEM Head-Unit Possible in MoparH
My 2012 Grand Caravan SE came with the stock stereo, and I want SAT radio. Can I purchase the OEM head unit and wiring for the van, or would it just be best to purchase an off the shelf Sirius/XM receiver? Thanks for the replies.
Not sure, but if you go aftermarket look for one with a USB port on the front. I find mine very useful for charging my BT ear bud, my security/remote start fob, and more. I have a charging cord for my phone or it would do that too.
Crutchfield is a great place to research and find out whats happens when an OE unit is replaced. Here is a link to a 2 channel one that has a XM receiver and a USB port.
But there is a "Read here before you buy" notation you should see. This is where Crutchfield comes in VERY handy. Other vendors say nothing but buy me!
A 2 channel means no fade to front and rear. A 4 channel will give you the fade (I think).
My gut feeling is an OE conversion will be costly but I can be surprised.

Yes, you can get a OEM head unit and add a Sirius Antenna, but kinda expensive, even if you buy a used one from junk yard.
If you have a Smart phone with Data plan, you can just sign up with Sirius and use that with AUX cable, a lot cheaper to go that route.
