Default pulsating brakes

I just acquired a 2005 dodge caravan with 110000 miles. when applying the brakes there is a very rough, almost like a flat tire, pulsating in the steering and the brake pedal. any idea the cause, or how to fix it?

Thanks

Your brake rotors (discs) may need turning (resurfaced) or replaced according to their thickness. If they have been turned before its possible they are too thin now. Replace the pads while you are in there.

You may have heard the term "warped Rotors". Most of the time its uneven material transfer. If you feel the pulsation all the time no matter the conditions of speed, yours may be truly warped.

The MFG did not go overboard on the brakes. Any kind of aggressive braking conditions that will get them hot will effect them.

If its not the brakes, I can't help you there.

Sure sounds like you need new pads and rotors. You can sometimes turn them, but usually they are so cheap to replace it's not worth taking the time mid-job to run them to a shop for that.

I upgraded mine to R1 Concepts cross drilled and slotted rotors with Wagner semi-metallic pads. Muuuuch better now!

Turning these skinny rotors is a waste of time regardless of their thickness. New rotors (not cheap ones), new pads and new guide pins along with liberal amounts of brake lube. One less thing to worry about.
