Default engine removal without trans

I have a 99 grand caravan sport 3.8ltr w/ 215,000 miles. The headgaskets blew about a month ago I replaced them it ran fine for 2 weeks now it ****ted out again, no acceleration backfiring when u floor it, horrible gas mileage, and when it gets to operating temp it won't start forever if you shut it off. i got a code for coolant temp sensor, replaced it still nothing different, I'm guessing everything is warped from it getting hot too many times and I'm loosing compression. With the miles and everything it just makes more sense to put in a lower mileage engine for a couple hundred, I am about install a new engine so my question is, can I remove the engine without the transmission I'm pretty sure I can, just need someone with more know how than me to give me some instructions, first time I've done a fwd transmission. Thanks in advance.
