clunking noise under rear of chassis in 2010 grand caravan with 33k miles
At about 32,000 miles my 2011 Grand Caravan Crew developed a clearly noticeable clunking sound as it is driven at speeds up to about 30 miles per hour. After that it is still hearable but less so as tire and wind noise covers it up. Had it up on dealers hoist yesterday but saw nothing. Tech said might be shocks. Any ideas? Have others had this? Otherwise love the van. I have owned since 30,000. It was a rental.
...funny..or maybe not...I rented a 2010 with about same mileage about 2 years ago and I remember I had noticed a similar clunking sound and blamed it on shocks....or may be shock mounts ...yea looking in that direction might prove the right idea...
Took car to scheduled appointment with my Chrysler dealer. A TSB exists for this problem. It says " if 2011 Grand Caravan owners complain about this noise replace shocks. They did the replace with a Different part number than original.
The noise is gone! Yea. Also seems to handle better on less than perfect roads at highway speed. In past on just certain roads the car had a rythemic galloping gait. front to rear. That seems to also be gone now. tominwis is a happy camper

2010 dodge caravan rear clunk, replace shocks too and helped for a while. Aprox 40,000 miles. New clunk, Have noise pin pointed to rear spring or top or bottom mount on spring. From in the van noise seems on both sides, but underneath, with shocks and traction bar unbolted, it is somewhere in spring assembly on one side. (Mine is on passengers side)
